#WriterWednesday with Jes Hart Stone

I’d like to welcome Jes Hart Stone to the blog for #WriterWednesday!

Hardest thing about being a writer:

Technology and social media—I love interacting with other writers in person and online, but social media takes up waaaaay too much time.

Easiest thing about being a writer:

Coming up with story ideas – they are everywhere.

Things you need for your writing sessions:

Quiet, uninterrupted time.

Things that hamper your writing:

All the day-to-day interruptions: Amazon deliveries, the neighbor’s dog (he barks 24/7), texts, and phone calls.

Something you’re really good at:

Manifesting what I want – if I can see something clearly in my mind, I can almost always make it happen. Like, parking spaces – I have Parking Karma.

Something you’re really bad at:

Small talk at parties—in fact, I’m not great at parties at all.

Last best thing you ate:

Costco lasagna.

Last thing you regret eating:

Too much Costco lasagna.

The last thing you ordered online:

A Sheaffer fountain pen and coffee-scented ink.

The last thing you regret buying:

A microphone for my YouTube channel – it didn’t make a difference.

Things you’d walk a mile for:

My dog, Sir Parker of Cherry aka Señor Parker.

Things that make you want to run screaming from the room:

Ignorant, bigoted people.

Things you always put in your books:

Powerful but deeply flawed women.

Things you never put in your books:

Harming an animal.

Things to say to an author:

Your book made me think (or cry, or laugh).

Things to say to an author if you want to be fictionally killed off in their next book.

I have a great idea for a book, and I’m going to have AI write it for me.

Favorite books (genre):

Dark fiction – everything from mystery to slasher.

Books you wouldn’t buy:

Romance.

The coolest person you’ve ever met:

Richard Bach, author of Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

The celebrity who didn’t look like he/she did in pictures/video:

John Irving, author of The World According to Garp.

Some real-life story that made it into one of your books:

Such Lovely Skin – the cosmetic surgery places in Thailand.

Something in your story that readers think is about you, but it’s not:

A lot of readers think the character Sheaffer Blue in my mystery, Blood on a Blue Moon, was modeled after me. She’s not.

Most daring thing you’ve ever done:

Sailed my boat across the South Pacific with my border collie.

Something you chickened out of doing:

I seriously considered running for mayor of a small town in the PNW, but after serving as president of the local Chamber of Commerce, I decided politics isn’t my thing.
